We are Barbara and Norberto, two Venezuelans working from home since 2015. We are your systems, productivity, and accountability partners. We have managed to grow our business by focusing on what’s important and dismissing what kept us away from our ultimate goal by just keeping things simple.
This business model didn’t provide as much flexibility as we thought, then my husband joined me on this journey, and yet we were still working endless hours to reach our goals, and still, we didn’t know our purpose at this point. We allowed our current situation at that time to sabotage what we were looking for in our work-from-home lifestyle. We forgot the most important thing when starting a business = Winning Mindset.
We let people decide what they will pay for our services when it was supposed to be the other way around, and this put me in a situation where I was attracting the wrong clients, you know the ones that call you every 30 minutes, send you WhatsApp messages at any time, that has no respect for boundaries (expecting you to work 24/7/365), paying when they wanted to (always late).
Now, let me tell you a story...
Let’s start with the part of our life that was hitting us hard, and badly in our relationship.
I remember when I was in my full-time job (and by full-time I mean from 6 am when I left home until late at night just because that’s how most companies were back in my home country at that time), never seeing the sunlight or my family, let’s not even mention friends. So, one day I just had enough of that life and decided to leap, leaving that “stability” to start figuring out what was my purpose in this life.
Long story short, I started in 2015 to work from home (which is what I keep doing and enjoying), I was charging around $20 a month to do admin work per client (which was also even more than what I earned in my “stable yet exhausting work”, so when I reached an initial financial goal in my first year I felt so happy about it, it was 3k and just to put you in a context that was a lot of money back in 2016 if you were living in Venezuela. But, here’s the thing, this did not provide me the happiness I was looking for to build the business I wanted back then, there was still something missing.
I started to become an Asana Expert (Formerly Asana Certified Pro) and took the certification exam with this powerful tool I was ready to offer my services. First, I worked as a Virtual Assistant getting clients from Upwork which gave me great experience and confidence to take the lap.
It wasn’t year, March 2020, COVID was now a real thing in everyone’s life and business, and most clients’ personal lives had an upturn lives down when the world stopped and we entered in total lockdown. We lost most of those micro-managers clients by then (which now we’re so grateful for that, lol!), and at that point, we asked ourselves, “ok now what? I mean life keeps happening”.
We needed to reinvent ourselves, and we started focusing on those business owners who needed help through those times, it all came to us without looking for it, and that’s where we started to understand what was our purpose = Helping online business owners become the CEOs their business needs to build a sustainable company based on Trust, Strong Core Values, and Simplicity.
